Consultation has concluded
Latrobe City Council values our natural environment and biodiversity and recognises the critical part that a healthy environment plays in maintaining a healthy and thriving community.
Council have drafted a Sustainability Action Plan to improve environmental sustainabilitywithin the region. The timeline of the Plan spans a 10 year period, from 2023 until 2033.
The Plan provides an innovativegoal-driven framework that is focused onmaintaining and building a healthy and eco-friendly environment in Latrobe City.
Focused on sustainability, the Plan will ensure that we fulfil the needs of the current generation without impacting future generations. In the context of this Plan, it means continuing to deliver Council's processes and operations in such a way we achieve a balance between economic growth, environmental conservation and the social wellbeing of our community.
Public consultation was open for four week period, four ‘Have Your Say’ submissions were received, one submission was received via email and two verbal suggestions via meetings these contained over 50 comments between them, including questions and supporting statements. In general, the feedback received was very supportive of the Plan. A full table of feedback and officers’ responses, including recommended changes, can be reviewed in the attachments.
Officers recommended minor changes to the Plan as a direct result of community feedback. The Plan was updated with these changes and endorsed at the Council Meeting in December 2023.
