Latrobe City Council is establishing a Naming Database for use in the future naming of roads, facilities and features throughout the municipality.
To assist in creating this database, Council is inviting suggestions from the community of suitable names that may be used for this purpose including, but not limited to, names that fall within the following categories:
Names of individuals from the Latrobe City area who have served Australia in conflicts.
Names of historical significance including significant events or moments in Latrobe City, Victorian and Australian history.
Names of indigenous flora and fauna, and geological features with a focus on those present in the municipality.
Names of families who have a long association with, and have made a positive contribution to, the municipality.
Names of Latrobe City community members who have given considerable service to the community.
Names of councillors of former municipalities now part of Latrobe City and former councillors of Latrobe City.
Other notable or eminent persons within the Latrobe City community, such as those assisting the development of cultural or sporting life of Latrobe City.
Traditional Owner names that are relevant to the area and of significance to the indigenous community of Latrobe City.
This is an opportunity to contribute to future naming and ensure that any names that will be used are of significance to the local area through recognising the unique attributes and valuable individuals that have made Latrobe City such a special place to live.

Please note, any names that are suggested need to take into account principles contained in the Naming Rules for Places in Victoria prepared by Geographic Names Victoria (GNV). Please see principles outlined in the documents section of this webpage.
All submissions will be assessed to determine whether the name meets the database criteria. Individuals will be notified via email about the outcome of their name suggestion once the assessment process has been completed.
Approved names will be publicly listed in the database however the individual who submitted the name will remain anonymous.
