Latrobe City Council have entered a Contract with Becon Constructions to design and construct an additional level of parking to the Seymour and Hotham Street Car Park which will result in up to 110 additional spaces at the facility.

This project is being delivered by Latrobe City Council on behalf of the Victorian Government through the Regional Car Parks Fund (RCPF) which is set to deliver 900 new car spaces across Traralgon, Morwell and Moe with over 150 car parks having already been delivered to date in Morwell and Moe.

Construction of the new deck will be completed in two stages, with minor works on the ground floor being required to accommodate the construction of the new deck.

  • Stage One (ground floor works): now complete

  • Stage Two (new deck works): mid – late 2024

Stage Two works (construction of the new deck) will be completed in four phases to minimise disruption and retain as much parking as possible at any one time. Each phase is estimated to take 4-5 weeks but may vary in duration. See phasing map for further details.

To complete works, the existing top deck (level two) will be closed. Level one has all-day parking, excluding signed permit spaces, and will remain open as per existing operational hours. Refer to level one map for parking arrangements.

During works, level one will be closed for a period of 1-2 days when steel is being lifted to the upper deck and when concrete is being poured. This is a safety precaution for members of the public. The ground floor will remain open.

The short-term closure days of level one will vary, and every effort will be made to give as much notice to the community as possible. For regular updates about changes to parking and more, please register for text alerts via the Stay Informed section below.

When complete, the car park will provide up to 110 new all-day parks, new lighting, and a visual uplift with the installation of an architectural façade to the new level. See artist impression for a visual depiction of car park once work is complete.
