Latrobe City Council is commissioning four murals by local artists in the Morwell CBD. These murals will celebrate the history and the culture of Morwell.

As part of the Sport Legacy Funding, Latrobe City Council are seeking expressions of interest from local business and property owners in the Morwell CBD. Businesses will work with Council and the local artist for the commissioning of four murals throughout the Morwell CBD. This project aims to celebrate the history of Morwell, through its historic role of powering the state and the cultures that helped shape Morwell.

The property/ business owners will have the opportunity to work with the procured artist to ensure the work meets their standards and connects with the business vision.

This project aims to address vandalism issues, boost community pride and attract visitors to the local area. Businesses will need to agree to the promotion of the murals through this program with a showcase being done through the artist and Council social media channels

Eligibility:

As a business/ property owner you will need:

  • A wall that is visible from street and accessible for community
  • Business owners will need permission from property owner for the works to be completed
  • Understanding that you will be part of the design process - working with Council and the artist, attending applicable meetings.
  • Permission to promote the mural

Selection process:

Submissions will be reviewed and evaluated based on visibility, vandalism, alignment with the project vision. Site will be determined by the officers

Deadline for Submissions: Monday 2 June, 2025
