  • During the collection and processing of the mixed recyclables, glass is likely to break and get caught in other recyclable material such as paper, cardboard, and hard plastics. When this happens, it contaminates other materials, reducing the quality and value of these recyclables. A new 4-stream waste system to be introduced by July 2027 will mean that no glass containers or bottles will be able to be placed into the Mixed Recycling Bin (yellow lid). Options for different glass disposal are Container Deposit Scheme (CDS), glass recycling drop off points, or a dedicated glass recycling bin (purple lid). Results of this survey will help inform the choice of glass recycling service to be introduced.
